Jive Software Launches IgniteRealtime.org Website in Response to Explosive Community Support for Its Open Source EIM Products

December 7 2006

Jive Software has responded to the amazing popularity of Wildfire, its Open Source Enterprise Instant Messaging (EIM) server, and Spark, its Open Source EIM client with the launch of IgniteRealtime.org today. IgniteRealtime.org is a community website intended to increase support of Jive Software's active developer and user communities.

IgniteRealtime.org builds upon the tremendous success of Jive Software's Open Source EIM products by evolving the website from a source code destination to the single biggest XMPP-centric product community on the Web, with a goal of driving the adoption of XMPP as the primary standard for open, real-time communications.

"We are deeply committed to our Open Source community, and our continued success depends on the unified involvement of our users, developers and enthusiasts," said Sam Lawrence, Jive Software's Chief Marketing Officer. "With IgniteRealtime.org, we now have a community-focused destination that can help solicit feedback, coordinate development, leverage expertise and ultimately expand the Open Source footprint beyond basic instant messaging to richer real-time collaboration."

Downloads of Jive Software's Open Source products have quadrupled in six months. Its Wildfire Open Source EIM server has exploded to more than 80,000 downloads per month, and its newly Open Sourced EIM client, Spark, has reached nearly the same level of popularity, counting the two projects among today's most popular and active Open Source initiatives. Jive Software, with the aid of its community, is currently developing innovative new EIM features that will propel it into the fast-emerging Real Time Communications (RTC) market in early Q1 2007.

"We've worked with the Jive Software development team over the past few months and it has been a great experience for all of us here," said Guus der Kinderen, software architect for the Buzzaa Media Group. "Jive is always quick to respond to our questions, suggestions and contributions, and the added interaction with their talented developers and with enthusiasts from around the world makes working with Wildfire and Spark even more enjoyable. IgniteRealtime.org will open exciting new ways for this vibrant community to share ideas and work together."
