Noted Wireless and Service Oriented Architechure Analysts to Address SCO Forum 2006 Atendees

Ronald Schmelzer, founder and senior analyst for ZapThink, an IT advisory and analysis firm for XML, web services and service orientation, will also provide training and instruction around Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) and the mobile and wireless market during two special sessions at SCO Forum 2006. In addition, SCO has created a special tribute to Doug Michels, the "Father of Forum," where he will be awarded the "UNIX Lifetime Achievement" award for his leadership and accomplishments with UNIX on Intel.

SCO Forum attendees will have the opportunity to hear from Hughes on the increasing expansion of the mobile and wireless market and why I.T. professionals and companies need to develop wireless and mobile aspects of their business. Hughes is an experienced marketing strategy executive with more than two decades of experience in sales, strategic marketing, and business development roles at several leading corporations including, IBM, General Electric, Motorola, and US WEST Cellular. He has also been a professor at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern where he taught business marketing.


Schmelzer will provide business and technical breakout sessions on how to effectively use SOA and how this ties to SCO's new EdgeClick mobile development platform. Developers with experience using .NET, C#, J2ME, SOAP, XML, SOA, SMS and GPRS/EDGE technologies will find Schmelzer's keynote address and breakout session particularly valuable. Schmelzer is a well-known expert on SOA, Web Services, and XML-based standards. Also, as one of the foremost experts in this space, Schmelzer has authored several books including XML and Web Services Unleashed and Service-Orient or Be Doomed.


SCO's special tribute to Doug Michels will be during Tuesday morning's general session. Michels was the co-founder of the Santa Cruz Operation, originally established as a UNIX porting and consulting company. While heading the Santa Cruz Operation he established SCO Forum, one of the longest running I.T. industry conferences.
