Open Source Firm Launches Products to Promote Business Software
June 2 2006(PRWEB) June 1, 2006 -- Connect Computing is now offering free downloads of its Go Enterprise packages. The two packages can be used together or separately. The first package, «Go Enterprise MS Developer», builds Apache, and PHP with support for connections to Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft's ASP.Net technologies on Linux. The second package, «Go Enterprise Live», consists of Five popular Open Source web applications that are pre-configured so no setup is required after installing the server. Both are designed to be installed on their own, dedicated, server.
Go Enterprise MS Developer consist of FreeTDS (Linux MS SQL Drivers) and Mono (Linux implementation of the .Net framework, including a C# compiler. Now developers can work on a Microsoft server but deploy their C# .Net applications on Linux servers. Go Enterprise scripts everything so users don't need to use ./configure and «make» commands, the install script goes through several tedious builds from source to get everything working.
The Go Enterprise Live package is aimed at small businesses that what to «get their business on-line». It includes, Accounting, CRM, Project Management, and E-Commerce. Connect Computing has taken the best-of-breed applications and tied the install into a one step process.
Also available (but not for download) is a Go Enterprise Server which is based on Kolab and contains a CRM and Squirrelmail as well.
Connect Computing's goal is to promote Open Source Software and make it easier for businesses to use it. From consulting experience and experience with the software, Connect Computing hopes Go Enterprise expands the role of Linux and Open Source to businesses who might not have the resources to everything «themselves».
