Congoo(TM) NetPass Now Available For Mozilla Firefox(R)
May 31 2006Congoo(TM), the Web's first free premium information network, today announced that its NetPass downloadable toolbar is now available in beta version for users of the Mozilla Firefox(R) web browser. The development enables millions of Firefox users to locate huge amounts of otherwise unavailable, subscription-only Web content -- and to access that content free of charge.
The NetPass, unveiled by Congoo in March, is a breakthrough in content accessibility. Until now, much of the Web's most valuable content from leading newspapers, professional journals, investment analysts, and wire services has been inaccessible without a paid subscription, and hidden from conventional search engines. Yet through arrangements with some of the most respected media and publishing companies, Congoo provides limited access to this useful material at no cost whatsoever. Nearly 300 sources of premium content have been Netpass-enabled and are available in free introductory amounts exclusively through Congoo's NetPass toolbar.
"Congoo is committed to bringing the Web's best content to as many people as possible. Making the NetPass available to Firefox users is one more important step in this process," said Ash Nashed, founder of Congoo. "We believe that the NetPass capability will be a welcome enhancement for Firefox users who seek to access the most accurate, up-to-date and authoritative news and information the World Wide Web has to offer."
In addition to content access capabilities, Congoo also provides search results and quality matches for any word or phrase query. Yet Congoo goes beyond typical search tools by displaying, and providing access to, information that normally does not show up in routine searches. Premium listings are displayed on top, with typical Web results just underneath. Congoo also differs from many popular search engines because it does not record individual users' searches.
Once installed in a user's browser, the Netpass begins unlocking content directly on Netpass-enabled websites. NetPass users can find premium content in Congoo's search results, or they can go directly to a participating publisher's Web site to unlock and access premium content.
The NetPass requires little effort on the part of the user -- its one- click registration feature, for example, enables users to access all premium content from participating publishers without having a subscription or repeatedly filling out forms. Users are typically allowed four to fifteen free articles per month per publisher, and no credit card or other payment information is ever required.
As part of its developing package of services, Congoo will be adding tools intended to foster community and value for NetPass users. New premium content sources will be added weekly as more publishers integrate Congoo's content platform.
