Host Department Launches a Server Stabilization Program

Host Department, a leading Web hosting and domain name registration provider, announced that they are going to perform server optimization during the end of March 2006. Host Department has prepared six new blade servers series to perform load balancing optimization to all the servers for both Windows and Unix Platforms. These new blade servers are equipped with Dual Intel Pentium Xeon 2.6 GHz and 4 GB Memory.


All account will be moved automatically to the assigned server. There is no effect on the production websites during account migration. Moving process for may take approximately 3 to 4 weeks to complete for both Windows and Unix Platforms. The process will commence at 00:00 am -- 05.00 am PST and will be rotated per server box.


For Windows Platform, Host Department will provide specific servers for Cold Fusion, ASP.NET and Custom Component (CFMX, ASP, PERL and PHP) to accommodate clients application. All accounts using Cold Fusion, ASP.NET and custom component will be moved automatically to the assigned server. While for Unix Platform, the load balancing rule will be emphasized without separating the application server.


"The server optimization (load balancing solution) is expected to improve servers performance and stability. We will monitor the account migration process on 24 hours basis, to ensure the smoothest migration process", said Ivan Brunetti, Host Department Technical Manager. "And please check the site after moving process finished to make sure all things work well" added Ivan. Host Department will bring continuous improvement to provide better hosting services environment.
